Detection of rising Troponin levels is a critical component for patient care

According to the World Health Organization, there are 9.4 million deaths per year due to ischemic (reduced blood-flow-related) heart disease.1 In the U.S. alone, 750,000 patients suffer from a heart attack every year.2 A heart attack is an urgent, time-critical emergency that requires the fastest intervention to preserve the best patient outcomes possible. Chest pain is the second most frequent cause of emergency room visits among adults, amounting to more than 8 million visits annually nationwide, but a UC San Francisco study found that only 5.5 percent of those visits led to serious diagnoses, such as heart attacks.3
