- Explain the role of the clinical laboratory in syphilis diagnosis, differentiating between treponemal and non-treponemal tests, as well as molecular and point-of-care methods.
- Summarize CDC syphilis testing recommendations, comparing traditional and reverse screening algorithms to determine the most appropriate approach based on laboratory resources and patient population.
- Interpret syphilis laboratory findings in special populations to distinguish between treatment failure, reinfection and relapse.
