Purified human complement component C8. Complement component C8 is unique to the terminal complement pathway. It is composed of three protein chains (α 65 kD; ß 65 kD; Γ 22 kD) and is present in plasma at approximately 55 mg/L. Together with the other proteins of the terminal pathway, C8 forms the membrane attack complex or MAC. |
